Frida Kahlo's The Frame
2nd grade students learned about the life and career of Frida Kahlo for Hispanic Heritage Month. They re-created her The Frame self-portrait, each student making a separate part.
Hispanic Heritage Month Display
Students from each grade level learned about a Hispanic Artist or a Hispanic Tradition. Kindergarten students learned about Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, 1st grade students learned about Mexico's Day of the Dead, 2nd grade students learned about Spanish artist Joan Miro, 3rd grade students learned about Spanish artist Salvador Dali, 4th grade students also learned about Mexico's Day of the Dead and 5th grade students learned about the significance of the sun in Mexican culture.

Self-Portrait Puppets
Students built these self-portrait puppets out of a soda bottle with the bottom cut off, newspaper and plaster gauze.

Foil Fish
Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade created fish using tacky glue, cardboard, aluminum foil and sharpie markers.
Clay Mandalas
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 used uncooked pasta to create radial symmetry in a slab of clay. After bisque fired, students painted the mandalas with watercolor.

The Color Wheel
Fourth grade students mixed primary colors into secondary colors and then primary and secondary into tertiary colors. Students chose a shape, traced that shape onto their paper and arranged the shapes into an accurate color wheel.
Paper Mosaics
Third grade students mixed primary colors into secondary colors on paper.They used the paper by cutting it up into little pieces and creating a mosaic.
Illuminated Text
Fourth grade students created the letter of their first name and accented the letter with gold and silver.
Shape Animals
Kindergarten students used shapes to create an animal after listening to Color Zoo and Color Farm by Lois Ehlert.
Egyptian Cartouches
Students used Egyptian Hieroglyphics of the alphabet to create their name in a cartouche.
