Mr. Seahorse
Second grade students used tissue paper to create a cool colored background as the ocean and warm colors to create the seahorses.
Pumpkins
Pre-K students created a spooky background using the end of a toilet paper tube and violet, blue and black paint. I love the expression created through collaging the facial features on top of the pumpkins.
Rainbow Fish
Kindergarten students created a bubble background by painting with the end of a toilet paper tube for their Rainbow Fish.
Expressions
Second grade students drew self portraits with every facial feature except their mouth and eyebrows. The mouth and eyebrows were put on brass fasteners to be able to be turned around to create different types of facial expressions.

Starry Night Multiplication Arrays
Third grade students viewed Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night and created a night sky using swirling s lines and showing individual brushstrokes. Students then created buildings in the village and turned the windows of the buildings into multiplication arrays.
Glad Monster, Sad Monster
Pre-Kindergarten students listened to the story Glad Monster, Sad Monster by Ed Emberley. Students used pre-cut shapes to compose a monster's face.

Roll-A-Picasso
Who ever invented this is a genius! Second grade students used dice and the Roll-A-Picasso facial features sheet to create these wacky portraits.
Foil Sea Turtles
Second grade students created these sea turtles by designing the shell with small pieces of cardboard glued to a larger piece. Students covered the design with aluminum foil rubbing their hands firmly over the foil to make the shapes appear. Students colored in the shapes with Sharpie markers. The head and the turtle's arms and legs are made from cardboard too.

Roll-A-Miro
These Joan Miro inspired works were created by a Roll-A-Miro game that was found on Pinterest. The second graders that created these loved it as did I because the game freed their minds to create anything as did Joan Miro.
Owl Babies
Kindergarten students created these owls by collaging newspaper and brown paper scraps onto a textured background that was created with a wax resist. Eyes, beaks and feet completed the owl babies.
